 FAQ’S FOR SPRING BASEBALL LEAGUE 2010

Are ages grouped together?
Typically, no.  Occasionally we groups age together in the older ages only.  The Spring league is a Primary season and consists of the following age groups: 5, 6, 7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14, and 15/17-year-old leagues. The age determination date is 4/30/10.  Players must be 5 by 4/30/10, no exceptions.

Can players request to be placed on a team with a friend or neighbor for carpooling?
No special requests such as these are honored for age groups 7 and above: however, we do honor these requests for ages 5 and 6 since they do not evaluate. Team distribution is made according to the ability of players to ensure that the teams are evenly distributed.

  • Brothers or step brothers who are in the same age group can be placed on the same team.
  • This request must be completed on the registration form and is the only one honored.

What night will the games be played?
Game and practice days and times are determined after registration is over and will depend on the number of teams per age group.  5’s & 6’s will be playing only on Saturday until the school session ends, at which time they will also begin playing on weekdays.  Age groups 7 & up will play one weekday game and one weekend game throughout the season.

Can my child play up/down an age group?
In the Spring league with single age groups, play up requests are the parent’s choice. To request that a child play up, the parent or guardian of that child MUST come into the office and fill out a play up form. Play ups start with the 5- year olds and can only play up one age group. An 8-year-old requesting a play up would be playing in the 9-year old league.  Play downs are rarely granted and are for medical reasons only.  Staff approval is required for any play down request.  No play ups are allowed into the 5 year old age group. Players must be 5 by 4/30/10.

Are player evaluations held?
Age 7 and above only. Please see the evaluation schedule sheet. Players will be evaluated on pitching, hitting, throwing, and catching.  Players must bring a glove to the evaluations.  Players who do not attend evaluations will not be eligible to pitch in their league.  All unevaluated players are placed in the National League (if ability based league applies to the age group). Players MUST evaluate to be considered for the American league.

How is the registration fee determined?
Registration fees are based on direct cost onlyand include: Participation awards for all age groups, 1st place & 2nd place season and tournament awards for ages 8 & up, one official for 14 regular season games and tournament play, players’ uniform shirt, caps, socks, coaches shirt and cap as well as a shirt and cap for the AGD’s and Advisory Board members, secondary medical insurance, practice balls, equipment, and coach clinics.
